Stated learning outcomes:
- To become competent in the clinical and surgical management of lateral skull base disease
- To become experienced in the management of complex otology both medically and surgically
- To become experienced in the management of patients with profound hearing loss through cochlear and auditory brainstem implantation
- To become experienced in the management of patients with NF2 related schwannomatosis
Clinical competencies to be achieved:
- Develop the surgical repertoire to deal with the full range of lateral skull base pathology
- Become experienced in the management of lateral skull base disease
- Become able to deal with all aspects of temporal bone disease including surgical management and management of neurotological conditions
- Become competent in managing patients with profound sensorineural hearing loss through cochlear and auditory brainstem implantation
The number of main operations the fellow could expect to be involved in:
- Approximately 50 translabyrinthine vestibular schwannoma removals
- Approximately 30 other lateral skull base procedures
- Approximately 200 middle ear surgeries including cochlear implantation
